eastern Tribeca classic cast-iron, new at 57 Walker at $1,200/ft

#3B at 57 Walker St is new this week through Halstead’s Richard Orenstein, asking $2.25mm (and low maintenance of $925/mo) for what is said to be 1,850 sq ft. It is a 22 feet wide classic Long-and-Narrow Manhattan loft, with three “oversized” windows front and back, “soaring” ceilings and “enormous” chef’s kitchen and no board approval (sponsor unit??).

The Tribeca blocks between very busy Church Street and even busier Broadway are far from the most charming Tribeca blocks, and 57 Walker is pretty close to Broadway. But this is a cast-iron building just north of the cast-iron buildings on this block of White Street that Christopher Gray profiled in his NY Times “Streetscapes” column a couple of months ago “White Street, a Glimpse of What SoHo Used To Be”.

I guess one upside is it is a little closer to the east side subways than western Tribeca is. Another is that there should not be a lot of cross-town traffic on the block.
