157 Duane also back from holidays

The new year Back On The Market series continues….

1 bed wonder, with stairs
The 4^th floor at 157 Duane Street was on the market from late October into December, took off for most of December and is back today, still at $1.895mm and $1,200/mo for “1,700 sq ft”.

That’s a pretty big 1 bedroom loft (what is a 1 bed wonder?), in a Long-and-Narrow footprint that is said to be 23.5 feet wide. This is one of those no-detail-overlooked designs that makes it difficult to change without ‘ruining’ it. Beautiful, yes, and it is what it is. One bedroom, one bath (and a window in the shower!). (Not to mention a flat screen television in the bathroom.)

The finishes are described as extraordinary (and look the same). So why so few dollars for so many beautiful feet?

The listing does not say so, but our building data shows this as a walk-up, which is consistent with the Corcoran listing for the 3^rd floor in 2003. Assuming they have not added an elevator since 2003, there will be some disappointed people on the stairs….

[Update 1.18.08: if you blinked, you missed it as it was only back on the market a day before taking another 9 days off. It is back (again again) as of Thursday, saying "First Showing open house January 27"]
