out-of-season Sunday diversion / “football” in a baseball weekend

it is not really about football
On a crisp fall day like today, the time is right for … post-season baseball. Two NL games today, and I believe that the Tigers are also playing somebody today. So today’s diversion comes (well) out of left field, as it has more to do with football than any other sport.

I was late to the Friday Night Lights party, much like the guy at CNN who wrote this nice piece [fixed the link] about the just-concluded 5-season show that was really about Life (and Marriage), instead of being ‘about’ high school football. If you have not seen the show, read the essay, then check it out on Netflix (seasons 1-4 stream, #5 only on DVD, so far).

If you are a fan, you will probably enjoy this oral history that features a whole bunch of people associated with the show.

But by 3:07 today, be ready to Play Ball!
