not-a-loft for sale as “loft” in non-loft 20 E 9

Just Sunday I commented that one of the things that makes it hard to track loft sales data is that some “lofts” are not lofts. (New Listings + Sales of Manhattan lofts in last 7 days) I did not provide examples right then, but one jumped out at me Monday night.

#11A at 20 East 9 Street is new, but this is The Brevoort East, one of the CentralVillage‘s (just off the) Gold Coast ‘exclusive’ buildings. (They require 40% down; the staff is white glove.) Come to think of it, this is probably the opposite of a loft.

One can only hope that the “loft” category was clicked by mistake when the new listing was entered in the inter-firm data base, but it is stuff like this that makes it hard to keep close track of the (real) loft market.
