watching the new construction at 31 West 15 Street

The hat tip goes to Curbed for linking
on Friday to a single-purpose blog (or is it a vlog?), Bird’s Eye View NYC, which has been posting video of the demolition (and associated hijinks … firefighters drilling, bobcats tumbling, workers reclining!) of the old 6-story union building at 31 West 15 Street since late April.

I have hit many lofts on this block over the years, and talked about the new development at 31 West 15 Street in my January 9, loft that missed The Peak at 30 West 15 Street comes back to sell, modestly but successfully, when I wondered whether a buyer across the street knew that the view was about to be lost. (The new building will be 28 to 30 stories, 299 feet tall.) I wonder if the condo portion of the new buidling will be lofts are or [oops] apartments.

My guess from the angle of the videos is that "BEV" lives on about the 16th floor of the Grosvenor House, across the street and just to the east, at 22 West 15 Street. Nice work, BEV!
